Common musks are a little more friendly and not quite as secretive as razorbacks. But it all just depends on what one you think looks the coolest. I like commons.

Cleaning it in tank water will keep any bacteria that can grow on those pads. Problem is most people don’t clean these in tank water, and many just replace the pads. If you do always clean them in tank water, and then when you replace them, replace only one side at a time. This will help keep the beneficial bacteria in there. It will be ok, it isn’t as good as a canister with more bio filtration, but it is not bad.
